BSO Has a New Member Soon! (and is hiring)

March 23, 2021

The Bellingham Symphony Orchestra is delighted to announce that its Executive Director, Gail Ridenour, and husband Kevin Woods, Director of Jazz Studies at WWU, are expecting their second child this summer.

During Ridenour's maternity leave, Marketing & Communications Manager Ramona Abbott will become the Interim Executive Director. "Ramona has held this position for us before," says Board President Barbara Ryan. "We are thrilled that she is ready and willing to step in during this time, as it will allow for a smooth transition and for us to support Gail and her family as they welcome their new family member."

Existing staff will cover various responsibilities as well, and the BSO is also hiring an interim Development position to assist. This position could become permanent, depending on a wide range of variables that the last year have proven impossible to predict.

"We are very fortunate to have such a dedicated and talented staff," says Ridenour. "I am looking forward to being able to have the summer to bond with our new infant, and knowing the organization is in great hands while I am away."

Abbott, in addition to her previous and current roles at the BSO, is a management consultant, educator, artist, and actor.

"I am happy to step back into this position temporarily," says Abbott. "The staff at the BSO is so happy for the Ridenours and our expanding orchestra family. We can't wait until this little one is ready to attend our concerts!"
