The Bellingham Symphony Orchestra will be holding auditions for Concertmaster in early summer of 2021, with the application process starting now. This is a paid position with a dedicated and talented community-based orchestra enjoying tremendous community support. For more information, please visit our website: www.bellinghamsymphony.org.

The BSO  has a rich tradition. From its beginnings around the Bicentennial celebrations of 1976 to becoming the resident orchestra of the historic Mount Baker Theatre, the orchestra has delighted the surrounding areas and visiting soloists with its professionalism and musical excellence. Nationally and internationally prominent soloists  with the orchestra have included Gil Shaham, Midori, Johannes Moser, Jennifer Koh, Alex Klein, and many more.

“This is an exciting time for the Bellingham Symphony Orchestra,” says Board President Barbara Ryan. “We are grateful for the strong community support that has allowed us to not only survive, but thrive in challenging times. We look forward to adding a new concertmaster to our musical community to join us in this journey.”

In normal times, the BSO performs 6-8 concerts at the Mount Baker Theatre. In Covid times, the orchestra has responded with an innovative and successful online season, featuring the ability to see soloists in their own homes and studios, as well as performances from BSO members, in small groups, and following all safety protocols.

”I look forward to working with our new concertmaster in our efforts to promote classical music in our community, and continued excellence and growth of our orchestra,” says Music Director Yaniv Attar. “Our next seasons are filled with exciting soloists and repertoire, and we can’t wait to get started!”

”This is an amazing opportunity for the right person to join our efforts to promote classical music in our community, and continued excellence and growth in our orchestra,” says Executive Director Gail Ridenour.  “As we move into our future, we naturally look forward to returning to live performances, and our new concertmaster will be an integral part of our continued growth.”
