Description of Organization

The Bellingham Symphony Orchestra is in its 46th season. The organization is comprised of over 80 musicians, a board of directors, and a small office staff. As part of our concert series, the BSO presents six to seven classical concerts each season. Each of these concerts features world renowned soloists. In addition, the organization does over 90 in-school concerts each season and collaborates with Mount Baker Theatre for an Educational Concert as part of their Educational Series. The BSO receives great support from the community with some seasons having multiple sold out concerts.

Position Title

Operations Manager | Librarian

Position Description

The Operations Manager | Librarian is responsible for all operational planning and implementation of the details related to the BSO’s performances and educational programs, ensuring they run smoothly and in a fiscally responsible manner.

Location

Position is in Bellingham, WA with work done remotely, at various venues (including the Mount Baker Theatre), and at the BSO Office (316 W Champion St, Bellingham, WA).

Hours

Hours are estimated at 30 hours per week on average.

Duration

Pay/Salary & Benefits

The Operations Manager | Librarian role is a non-exempt, salaried position. $30,000-$33,000 per year, DOE. Competitive leave benefits include paid holidays, vacation, and sick leave.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in arts administration or production management, or equivalent education and workplace experience. 
  • Demonstrable knowledge of orchestral music required, with experience performing classical music preferred. 
  • Experience working with a variety of vendors and independent contractors desired. 
  • Experience sufficient to acquire a basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and Google Drive is required.
