The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has been felt in concert halls across the country. During the pandemic, the BSO innovated to meet our audiences in new and exciting ways. As we celebrate a full return to the Theatre, we look forward to carrying those innovations forward in our programming as we greet full performance spaces once again.

Concert attendance reaches over 9,000 a year, including a core audience of 500 season ticket holders.

Over 85% of attendees are from Bellingham and Whatcom County. A sizable portion of the remaining audience for each concert travels from Skagit County, Vancouver BC, and the Seattle metro area. These visitors support our local economy with hotel stays and shopping/dining around our community.

The BSO regularly fills or sells out concerts at Mount Baker Theatre (seating capacity of 1,517).

Symphony audiences report spending $400,000+ around Whatcom County while attending our concerts each year. Attendees also report patronizing businesses that support the BSO to show their appreciation!
