Activity

Musical Rivers!

Here is a fun activity to do with your kids involving a piece about a river - The Moldau!

The Moldeau, was written by the Czech composer Bedřich Smetana in 1874 and tells the story of a famous river. It is from a piece about his home country, Má Vlast or My Country.  Smetana takes us on a journey from the small beginning of the river to the great city of Prague.

As You Listen...

  • What instruments did you hear?
  • Do you hear a town with people dancing?
  • Do you hear rapids in the river?
  • Is there a waterfall along the way?
  • What do you imagine happening along the river?

Integration alert! Draw or paint a picture of a river as you listen and share it with us. You can share it on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/bellinghamsymphony/ or email it to info@bellinghamsymphony.org.
