Bellingham Symphony Orchestra Announces 51st Season: Legends & Sonnets

August 13, 2026

A season of timeless masterpieces, celebrated guest artists, and unforgettable musical storytelling

Published in WhatcomTalk

The Bellingham Symphony Orchestra (BSO) has announced its 51st season, Legends & Sonnets, a six-concert series that celebrates the stories, myths, poetry, and emotions that have inspired composers for centuries. Running October 4, 2026, through May 23, 2027, the season features internationally acclaimed guest artists, beloved orchestral masterworks, and bold contemporary works under the direction of Music Director Yaniv Attar.

Audiences can expect an eclectic lineup that spans from Bach and Beethoven to Ravel’s iconic Boléro and Orff’s monumental Carmina Burana, alongside works by today’s leading composers. Highlights include internationally renowned violinist Gil Shaham, celebrated cellist Amit Peled, and a season finale pairing Carmina Burana with Grammy Award-winning composer Austin Wintory’s music from the acclaimed video game Journey.

The season opens with Star-Cross’d Dreams on October 4, a program inspired by love, fate, and imagination featuring violinist Dawn Posey and the whimsical artistry of Shoestring Circus. Other concerts explore themes of exile, folklore, destiny, and triumph before culminating in Fate’s Power — Carmina Burana on May 23, 2027, featuring the BSO Chorus and guest vocalists in one of the most exhilarating works in the orchestral repertoire.

Season subscriptions are available now, with all concerts taking place at the historic Mount Baker Theatre in downtown Bellingham. Single tickets are also on sale.
