Our full return to the concert hall last season was truly magical, and I am so pleased to have the opportunity to welcome you to the Mount Baker Theatre once again for our 48th Season!
October 6th marks my 10 year anniversary as Music Director of this incredible orchestra. How the time flies! It has been an honor to grow and develop as a conductor alongside our talented musicians. As I begin this new season with the BSO, I feel fresh and ready to continue making memorable moments for our audiences. We have lots of new and exciting music to share, including Anthony DiLorenzo’s Anthem of Hope and Peter Boyer’s Ellis Island: The Dream of America, alongside a few pillars in our repertoire, including Brahms’ Second Symphony and Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition.
I am thrilled about the amazing soloists we will bring to the stage this season, including Seattle Symphony’s Efe Baltacigil (cello) and Meeka Quan DiLorenzo (cello) as well as Syrian composer and clarinetist Kinan Azmeh, Argentine bandoneon player Hector del Curto, and many more.
Finally, I am delighted to continue the expansion of our Harmony from Discord program to feature music transcending oppression with composers from all walks of life incorporated into our programming all season long. I am overjoyed that our Harmony from Discord concerts have received such profound support and acclaim, and I know that this expanded programming will create more opportunities for enlightenment, enrichment, and engagement.
This is a season not to be missed. I look forward to seeing you from the stage!
